What's cooking Wednesday

Today is what's cooking Wednesday and the topic is... Recipe fails!

Thinking of a recipe that I made that failed is difficult cause almost everything I make turns out pretty good, but my sister Grace and and my cousin Searria  when they were young ins made this terrible batch of popcorn and told themselves it tasted good.

At first they made a bag of microwaveable popcorn and they started aging about spices to put in it, like they put salt and pepper in it which isn't uncommon but then they put like, sugar and pork seasoning and I think lemon juice.

But the best part is the name they made for this culanary disaster... THE ARGUMENT!

And after having had it forced down my gullet once or twice I can honestly say it tastes worse then it sounds.

Truth or dare Tuesday

Truth or dare Tuesday and I'm gonna pick dare. And the dare is ....post an ugly picture of myself!?!

This is a pick of me at the freedom roller rinks harvest festival and for laughs my friend Josh and I wore wigs and got our picture taken.

Here is one of my brother and I dancing at our nieces birthday party.

Monday

Today it's Monday and the topic is..." what was my first car?"

Well, first off... I'm fifteen and obviously and rightly so, I'm not expected to have my very own vehicle quite yet.

So instead I'll talk about what car I want for my first car.

This is a toyota 1986 pick up, I'd like this so I could have something to haul accupment with on my next mission trip.

all you rednecks and hillbillies may think me strange for wanting some " rice burner" as my first vehicle instead of a Chevy or a Ford.

After getting so many problems our family has had with a few US brand vehicles I've found that in most cases buying a American car will only cost me my sanity. Toyota has decent fuel aconomy and I wouldnt hate having one.

The vehicle I'm actively using Is our shuttle bus that is very much tank like, I wanna put a turret on it during dear season.

Come back tomorrow when ill serve up a semi-entertaining tale about my family, my life and my world.

Sunday suprise

Sunday surprise and the topic given is "...and that's how I landed in the ER!"

Shockingly the only time I had to go to the emergency room ( that's worth telling) is when I got hit by a car a few days after my 5th birthday and broke my right femur.

I was at my mama and papa's church for vacation bible school and for some stupid reason we had to cross the street to get to an activity.

but of course most 5 year olds would listen to Barney or Mr. Rogers when they sing look both ways when you cross the street, but me being a little country bumpkin I didn't have very much practice with traffic.

Anyways, I crossed the road and got hit by a car. scramble to call an ambulance and knocking a few years off my mothers life accrued and I spent three days in the hospital.

And that's how I landed in the ER!

Come back tomorrow when I'll serve up a semi-entertaining tale about my family, my life and my world.

Whats cooking wednesday

Today Is what's cookin Wednesday, And I have to think of my favorite recipe of all time.

First off, sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been helping at a Christian camp for the past few days.

Gee, ruling out my favorite recipe is hard because my mom loves to cook new and interesting things.

I suppose I'd have to choose breakfast burritos. They are very easy and delicious and though I could defenentlly think of many fine foods from the Bennett's cook book this is totally near the top.

1# browned sausage, 1 dozen eggs, 1/2 to 1 cup salsa, shredded cheese and salt and pepper to taste... Scramble the eggs, then add the cooked sausage and salsa. When it's warm, cover it with cheese, and let it melt. Serve in tortillas.

Come back later today when I'll serve up a semi-entertaining tale about my family, my life and my world

Thousand word Thursday

Today I'm suppose to pick out my favorite tool in my arsenal and take a picture of it and basically have a show and tell.

This is a difficult choice because I have a bedroom full of junk and most of it I have a use for but there is so much that I'm having a hard time choosing.

I suppose I'll have to choose my bracelets

More then once, I've had people comment on my Christian bracelets and had a chance to share my testimony and witness to unsaved people.

On my left hand, the top bracelet says "I am a warrior."  That I got at promise keepers, and the bottom one, given to me by Lance Devore, says "Tagged by God."

These have given me a few chances to evangelize, and that's why I never go anywhere without them on my wrists.

Matthew 28:19-20 says "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father, and the son and the holy spirit. Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you and surely I will be with you always to the very end of the age."

Come back tomorrow, when we'll serve up a semi-entertaining tale about my family, my life, and my world.

Whats Cooking Wednesday

When I was a little boy, I wanted to be a chef and more than once a day I would tell my mom or dad "when I have my restaurant..." And then go on to say something you'd expect a little kid to say, like I said that I'd separate the African Americans from the Caucasians, In my child mind I thought I was helping maintain peace between people and my parents always laughed whenever I said that and now I know why...

Because I was being racist myself!!!

But for some reason I felt that God wasn't calling me to be a cook so I left that idea and decided to become a missionary. Then my mom told me not to give up my talent and what I really wanted to do with my life but to compromise and use what God has given you and use it for His glory. And then I decided to take my cooking abilities and use them as a way to reach the unsaved and utilize it with my God given mission and have a food based mission cause.

So you can tell that cooking plays an important part in my life, I was told that a lot of people ate tater tot hot dish in my childhood town Fairmont, Minnesota and I just can't get enough of it

  1. Cook beef and onion in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until beef is well browned, stirring to break up meat. Pour off fat.
  2. Stir soup, ketchup and Worcestershire into skillet. Spoon beef mixture into 12x8-inch shallow baking dish. Arrange potatoes around edge of casserole.
  3. Bake at 425 degrees F for 25 minutes or until potatoes are done.

Its super easy and the end result is delicious!

The Bennett pantry is loaded with our favorite recipes and such.

Come back tomorrow were we'll be serving up another semi entertaining tail about my family, my life and my world

Truth or Dare Tuesday

Truth or Dare Tuesday.... I suppose I'll pick truth and the question is what item do I have that I don't know why I have it?

(Sigh)

Well, first an explanation as to why I have a man's incontinence pad in my room.

My dad is hilarious.

(I swear I don't really need them!)

Bennett men who have a sense of humor have sent each other toupee samples and adult diapers since the beginning of time. But that has an explanation.

With the lovely assistance of my younger brother Daniel, we ventured into the proverbial depths of our room and found something unexplainable...something both intriguing and frightening:  a crate full of old, pulled apart, disfigured baby dolls with eye balls and various limbs missing.  Since it's only dudes who live in our room, I have no idea why they are there! Along with this horrifying display, we also discovered a box with (apparently) a pet gym sock.

We'll name him Jim.

Come back tomorrow, when we'll be serving up another semi-entertaining tale about me, my family, and my world.

Blessings!  Jethro

2 Timothy 1:12
That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
