My favorite Christmas special

In my family around Christmas, there are lots of Christmas movie quotes going around and I Love it.

One of my favorite christmas movies is The Nightmare Before Christmas

My best friend Ally and I adore this movie

Another one is How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

My whole entire family quote it all the time, out of season at that.

Jim carry is my hero!

I also love the movie Elf, it appeals to the younger audience for one reason and the teenage and adult viewers for another

I'm sure there are more but those are my top three.

See y'all tomorrow.

Favorite Christmas/new years eve food

Christmas/new years eve weight sucks right?

But all the tempting chocolate or egg nog is hard to evade. Tonight I'm going to give you a few of my favorite Christmas food.

Every Christmas morning my family sits down after presents and eats some overnight rolls. Carmal covered rolls. So that is one of my favorites.

Iv always loved egg nog shakes from McDonald's.

And since we're not just talking about Christmas food but also new years eve food.

My family and I have a massive snack supper on new years eve that often includes but not limited to; cheese ball, pizza did, jalapeño poppers, Oreo balls and much more.

That is my favorite holiday foods

Favorite Christmas tradition

You are probably noticing a Christmas theme obviously, Christmas has special meaning to my family and I.

Every year we wake up and open our family present, the present that we all share and then we open our secret santa present( everyone a month before pick out a sibling to get a gift for with the money that our parents let us use).

Then we eat our Christmas breakfast of overnight rolls and then pack up and head to our favorite hotel, the Stoney creek inn, and then go out to eat at the lounge( a fancy restaurant.

We stay at the Stoney creek inn for 2 or 3  days and just enjoy each others company.

What Christmas means to me

What Christmas means to me

Whoever Christmas comes around again I have an plethora of feelings when it comes.
Some people talk about Santa which of course isn't real (sorry kids), so I choose not to even worry about that. Some people use it as an outlet to get drunk  until the day after new years... I  don't believe that's the reason either. When people talk about gifts that's what Christmas to me but in the different sense of the word. You may not believe in a God or be religious or whatever but this is too important to over look. God sent his son to this world in the form ad a baby by which a virgin gave birth. He dwells among men for 33 years and lived a life without doing anything wrong, he was punished and crucified because of something he didn't do. We are all born with sin in our life and God can't be around sin so when you die, you would have to go to hell forever and it is impossible to live a life without sinning. But instead of use dying for something we can't control, Jesus died in our stead so that we wouldn't have to and rose again so he could enjoy that gift with us, and that gift is eternal life in heaven with him forever. Assurance that we will be in a awesome place when we die is the best gift ever right?, I think so. And the thing about a gift is that its free. You cant earn it, you only have to except the gift like excepting a Christmas gift... Cause that's what it is. All you have to do is repent for all the sins you commited in your life except that you are a sinner and need help. Believe in God and trust your life to him and live for him. This is what Christmas means to me...

This has been another serving of jethros gospel grille.

Wednesday

So... Sorry I haven't written anything in a while, I've been pretty busy, I'll try my best to stay on top of things now, today's first topic is," what do I really want for christmas?"

Hmm... That's a tough one because there's a few things I'd really like

I'm a knife collector so some machetes or spring assisted pocket knifes might be cool.

I've also been looking for a vintage military backpack
... So that'd be cool too. I suppose that and some weaponry is what I really want for Christmas.

Come back later today when I'll serve up another semi-entertaining story about my family, my life and my world

Thousand word Thursday

Today is thousand word Thursday and the topic is... Post a picture of something that makes you laugh.

The gentlemen in the patriotic swim trunks there is my best friend Richard Phillips.

He can't go five minutes without saying something or doing something funny!

Some days it's like he isn't happy unless he's making something come out my nose.

Him and I go to camp together and have some unforgettable times... I love yea man.

Heres a fine specimen of hilarity, my little brother Daniel... He's single ladies

He is funny even though his sisters get grossed out by him sometime (that's our job though, aint it?).

Come back tomorrow when I'll serve up a semi-entertaining tale about my family, my life and my world.

Monday

Today is monday and the topic is...

"What did I wanna be when I grew up?"

Well, I am 15 and though some would think that the age of becoming an adult since I wouldn't say I've fully grown up in some standards (and I mean most!) I can still look forward to it in ways and do it activity.

In earlier blog posts I spoke of my transformation from wanting to be a cook to incorporating my culinary skills with my God-given mission to spread the good news all over the unreached world...

...But I don't have to wait til I'm old to start being spiritually open,"do not look down upon us because we are young!" says the bible.

Our mission field is right outside our bedroom door.

You don't have to go to different countries were no one speaks you'er language and you get a parasite every time you drink there water (thats for people who are specifically called to do that I hope minus the parasite) It's right across the food court at school or a couple benches up on the bus.

We can't live our Christian life in a pew behind a hymnals then ignore God the rest of the week.

God saved my life from a early and painful earthly death and an eternal and flaming death in Hell away from God, and I am going to give him the glory for all the good and bad points in my life cause it was his to take or leave, and he picked up this pile of rags and made it into a beautifully flawed beacon of his redeeming light for all the world to see

Friends, let your Jesus show!

What's cooking Wednesday

Today is what's cooking Wednesday and the topic is... Recipe fails!

Thinking of a recipe that I made that failed is difficult cause almost everything I make turns out pretty good, but my sister Grace and and my cousin Searria  when they were young ins made this terrible batch of popcorn and told themselves it tasted good.

At first they made a bag of microwaveable popcorn and they started aging about spices to put in it, like they put salt and pepper in it which isn't uncommon but then they put like, sugar and pork seasoning and I think lemon juice.

But the best part is the name they made for this culanary disaster... THE ARGUMENT!

And after having had it forced down my gullet once or twice I can honestly say it tastes worse then it sounds.

Come back tomorrow when I'll serve up another semi-entertaining tale snout my family, my life and my world.

Truth or dare Tuesday

Truth or dare Tuesday and I'm gonna pick dare. And the dare is ....post an ugly picture of myself!?!

This is a pick of me at the freedom roller rinks harvest festival and for laughs my friend Josh and I wore wigs and got our picture taken.

Here is one of my brother and I dancing at our nieces birthday party.

Monday

Today it's Monday and the topic is..." what was my first car?"

Well, first off... I'm fifteen and obviously and rightly so, I'm not expected to have my very own vehicle quite yet.

So instead I'll talk about what car I want for my first car.

This is a toyota 1986 pick up, I'd like this so I could have something to haul accupment with on my next mission trip.

all you rednecks and hillbillies may think me strange for wanting some " rice burner" as my first vehicle instead of a Chevy or a Ford.

After getting so many problems our family has had with a few US brand vehicles I've found that in most cases buying a American car will only cost me my sanity. Toyota has decent fuel aconomy and I wouldnt hate having one.

The vehicle I'm actively using Is our shuttle bus that is very much tank like, I wanna put a turret on it during dear season.

Come back tomorrow when ill serve up a semi-entertaining tale about my family, my life and my world.

Sunday suprise

Sunday surprise and the topic given is "...and that's how I landed in the ER!"

Shockingly the only time I had to go to the emergency room ( that's worth telling) is when I got hit by a car a few days after my 5th birthday and broke my right femur.

I was at my mama and papa's church for vacation bible school and for some stupid reason we had to cross the street to get to an activity.

but of course most 5 year olds would listen to Barney or Mr. Rogers when they sing look both ways when you cross the street, but me being a little country bumpkin I didn't have very much practice with traffic.

Anyways, I crossed the road and got hit by a car. scramble to call an ambulance and knocking a few years off my mothers life accrued and I spent three days in the hospital.

And that's how I landed in the ER!

Come back tomorrow when I'll serve up a semi-entertaining tale about my family, my life and my world.

Whats cooking wednesday

Today Is what's cookin Wednesday, And I have to think of my favorite recipe of all time.

First off, sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been helping at a Christian camp for the past few days.

Gee, ruling out my favorite recipe is hard because my mom loves to cook new and interesting things.

I suppose I'd have to choose breakfast burritos. They are very easy and delicious and though I could defenentlly think of many fine foods from the Bennett's cook book this is totally near the top.

1# browned sausage, 1 dozen eggs, 1/2 to 1 cup salsa, shredded cheese and salt and pepper to taste... Scramble the eggs, then add the cooked sausage and salsa. When it's warm, cover it with cheese, and let it melt. Serve in tortillas.

Come back later today when I'll serve up a semi-entertaining tale about my family, my life and my world

Thousand word Thursday

Today I'm suppose to pick out my favorite tool in my arsenal and take a picture of it and basically have a show and tell.

This is a difficult choice because I have a bedroom full of junk and most of it I have a use for but there is so much that I'm having a hard time choosing.

I suppose I'll have to choose my bracelets

More then once, I've had people comment on my Christian bracelets and had a chance to share my testimony and witness to unsaved people.

On my left hand, the top bracelet says "I am a warrior."  That I got at promise keepers, and the bottom one, given to me by Lance Devore, says "Tagged by God."

These have given me a few chances to evangelize, and that's why I never go anywhere without them on my wrists.

Matthew 28:19-20 says "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the father, and the son and the holy spirit. Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you and surely I will be with you always to the very end of the age."

Come back tomorrow, when we'll serve up a semi-entertaining tale about my family, my life, and my world.

Whats Cooking Wednesday

When I was a little boy, I wanted to be a chef and more than once a day I would tell my mom or dad "when I have my restaurant..." And then go on to say something you'd expect a little kid to say, like I said that I'd separate the African Americans from the Caucasians, In my child mind I thought I was helping maintain peace between people and my parents always laughed whenever I said that and now I know why...

Because I was being racist myself!!!

But for some reason I felt that God wasn't calling me to be a cook so I left that idea and decided to become a missionary. Then my mom told me not to give up my talent and what I really wanted to do with my life but to compromise and use what God has given you and use it for His glory. And then I decided to take my cooking abilities and use them as a way to reach the unsaved and utilize it with my God given mission and have a food based mission cause.

So you can tell that cooking plays an important part in my life, I was told that a lot of people ate tater tot hot dish in my childhood town Fairmont, Minnesota and I just can't get enough of it

  1. Cook beef and onion in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat until beef is well browned, stirring to break up meat. Pour off fat.
  2. Stir soup, ketchup and Worcestershire into skillet. Spoon beef mixture into 12x8-inch shallow baking dish. Arrange potatoes around edge of casserole.
  3. Bake at 425 degrees F for 25 minutes or until potatoes are done.

Its super easy and the end result is delicious!

The Bennett pantry is loaded with our favorite recipes and such.

Come back tomorrow were we'll be serving up another semi entertaining tail about my family, my life and my world

Truth or Dare Tuesday

Truth or Dare Tuesday.... I suppose I'll pick truth and the question is what item do I have that I don't know why I have it?

(Sigh)

Well, first an explanation as to why I have a man's incontinence pad in my room.

My dad is hilarious.

(I swear I don't really need them!)

Bennett men who have a sense of humor have sent each other toupee samples and adult diapers since the beginning of time. But that has an explanation.

With the lovely assistance of my younger brother Daniel, we ventured into the proverbial depths of our room and found something unexplainable...something both intriguing and frightening:  a crate full of old, pulled apart, disfigured baby dolls with eye balls and various limbs missing.  Since it's only dudes who live in our room, I have no idea why they are there! Along with this horrifying display, we also discovered a box with (apparently) a pet gym sock.

We'll name him Jim.

Come back tomorrow, when we'll be serving up another semi-entertaining tale about me, my family, and my world.

Blessings!  Jethro

2 Timothy 1:12
That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day.
